The Owl and the Pussycat

Whilst creating the collection Almrita's answers which is predominatly about love and relationship 'The owl and the pussycat' was for a time the subject of conversations had with friends about relationships we were in or had beeen in previously. A firm family favourite childhood bedtime story for most it's themes seemed fitting at the time.

I spend a lot of time walking with my dog Lucas by the canals in Shropshire in the summer to get us out of the heat. It's always easy to find some shade. Lucas and I really enjoy watching the boats go by and chatting with people on their holidays. Locally we have two hire boats "The owl and the pussycat" and "the pea green boat" Often they would float on by at times that seemed to have great significance or synchronicity to them. It was delightful to see them come through in the paintings. 

Under the lens

In this collection the pieces are like snapshots or mementoes of the journey a fully completed piece has made. Some of the originals are still in process, some are just about to be available for sale and some are already completed and sold. Each piece you see in this collection is a small section of marks within the larger piece, some which remain until the end and sometimes they are lost beneath the layers that follow with just a suggestion of what was present before.
